Girls Day

Kelly Jo and I had a little girls day this afternoon at Croc's "Drag Yourself to Brunch." I have heard so many good things about this, but was still extremely surprised with the show. All of the girls were great, but our favorite was the Beyonce look-a-like (above).

The place was absolutely packed and I'd say everyone in the house definitely got their moneys worth...especially the handful of guys who decided to spend their afternoon at the Drag Show (kudos to them!). Although there was no dancing on the floor allowed, we danced and sang in our seats all afternoon. I would definitely go again, maybe for a special November Birthday coming up...

#45: Wear Red Lipstick
#63: Girls Day
#87: Dance
#90: Drag Yourself to Brunch
Off the list!

Better Block: Day 3

All the street lights are the god-awful orange color.

Today is the big day! I've been luckily enough to have a flexible schedule with work all week, working 7:30-4:30 and today I'm taking a half day to finish up around our shop and help with the outdoor space. The weather is looking a little foul for this afternoon, and it sounds really windy out right now, but fingers crossed it'll all clear up by 5 p.m.

Gotta love the pizza box, it's like a real kitchen!

I'd say our biggest change for the day was the addition of our pallet couch by Mike and Ryan. Didn't they do a fantastic job?! You'd think they were professionals, but in fact, they aren't. Haha, the duo made up their design as they went along. Since there were a few random nails and the wood is so rough, I covered the bench with table cloths my sister sent me from India. We're getting pillows from a local crafter today to throw along the back.

My friend Alli tackled the pattern wall project. We were kiiiiiinda told not to use nails, but after discovering those 3M hooks weren't cutting it we put a few holes in the wall and covered up the fact with some an awesome display.

John's display is looking amazing. I love how it feels like you've stepped outside into your garden with his homemade gardening bench (he did it himself - with pallets!) and tree stump grape vine display. His terrariums and air plant creations are so unique, people are already getting sucked into the store by their appearance.

At one point later in the night we heard this loud (like, really loud) music coming from a few doors down. I popped my head into the Texaco Building, which will house O'Connor Brewing, an arcade, outdoor games and music, and they had a full on concert-style sound system going. It sounded amazing! Anyone volunteering to fill in for me while I get my dance on?? Hahah.

The Better Block opens tonight at 5 p.m. I'm sure you've already scouted out where to park and have a pocket full of cash ready to spend at 765 Granby Street :). Stop by and say Hello to us, we can't wait to meet you!

Momentairly Obsessed With...

retro spring dress.  I'm absolutely dying for Spring over here. I'm over tights and scarves and the bitter cold mornings. I just want to slip on a sundress and get my bare legs under those warm rays. Until I can do that, this dress takes me to that place.

wraparound watch.  Yeah, I know, I already have a gold watch. But, let's be real, one just isn't enough. And I bet this would fit perfectly in one of those little plastic Easter eggs. I wouldn't even ask for multiple eggs, just one!

JT's 20/20 experience.  Mike was the most awesome boyfriend to surprise me with this CD earlier this month. Not gonna lie, it contains some baby-making music...but also some excellent Motown-style jams and I just can't get enough of!

illustrated coffee cups.  Aren't these cups killer? I am fantasizing about all the different designs I could create to cover to-go coffee cups...Wouldn't that be a super cute idea for cups at a wedding hot chocolate bar? Obviously I'm getting a little ahead of myself here. Also, check out this blog in general, great inspiration and beautiful design with every post!

cadbury mini eggs.  I have a love/hate relationship with these little sweets. I love them to death and hate that I can't stop after 3 (or 4, or 7). It's really the only Easter candy I can't live without (and does anyone find it a little disturbing to know that Cadbury is owned by Hersey?).

bling band.  I think there comes a time when you deserve to treat yourself to something very pretty and extra nice. And I think this ring could do the trick! Super cute and dainty, if there ever comes a day when I actually have a real wedding ring, it would stack nicely. Okay, so two eggs in the Easter basket, the watch and this :)

Thanks to my lovely sister, Music Mondays have not died!  However, we have cut down its appearance to only once a month. You now have Adrienne to thank for the sweet sounds, awesome photos and clever playlist names.
Without further hesitation...Happy Monday!

#6: Local Music

Hell's Kitchen in downtown Norfolk has become our go-to bar this Summer. Mostly because of their live music every Friday and Saturday night. The bands never fail to rock out, as we never fail to form our own little dance party in the middle of the bar....

I'm tackling the second annual 92 Days of Summer list.

Music Monday

Oh, Thailand...

Today is the first day of my new job! I'm so excited to finally share I'll be the Creative Director for Divaris Real Estate Company in Virginia Beach. It's a brand new position, so there is much to be determined for my daily duties will consist of, but whatever they are, I'm sure it's going to be fantastic!

In the meantime, today's playlist is full of oldies, but goodies :)
