Turns out Etienne Aigner started as a bookbinder after WWII. Shortly there after he started making bags and belts from this stunning red leather and by the 1960s he had his own showroom in New York City. The company no longer makes shoes, but still has a pretty nice collection of handbags and accessories. However, there are tons of Aigner shoes still floating around out there....a search on Etsy turned up more than 350 pairs!
